CUB SCOUT ACTIVITY DAY
21st June 2003

Well, "what a brilliant day", as one Cub Scout said.

The weather was unbelievably kind for those who only came for the day and for those who took advantage and camped over.

We had 150 Cub Scouts all dotted around Rhydd Covert each doing an activity of their own choice for the day.

The Leaders as well - about 50 each helping with an activity of their own choice, a great traditional Scouting spirit of 'mucking in and helping' could be felt and experienced.

Most Cub Scouts will have managed to earn a Badge for their efforts, the others with just a little left to complete it.

We had a wide game with 150 Cub Scouts chasing around after ten 'strange people'; Scouts and Ventures dresses up in fancy dress. 'Yes'. Armed with water cannon 'Cool'.

The Burgers were Big, Juicy and fresh - straight off the Barbeque and into the waiting hordes of Cub Scouts.

Then on to the Camp Fire, Warm yes, Hot yes, Loud yes, a great evening, with parents in attendance, well over 200 people. Pete and Alan did a magnificent job, everyone enjoyed themselves. Afterwards I could hear Cub Scouts in the cars as they left singing the songs, not to mention a whole mess tent full singing a new call they had learnt "no flies on us" over on site seven.

We have already received a number of e-mails from leaders and Cub Scouts telling me how they enjoyed the day please keep them coming in, especially the ones from the Cub Scouts.

Our thanks go out to everyone who helped make the day possible, The Rhydd Team, especially the co-organiser Richard, all the Leaders both in Kidderminster and other Districts, their helpers, parents and friends, a special thank you to the Scouts, Explorer and Venture Scouts who gave up their time to come and have so much fun. You certainly helped put the 'OUT' in 'SCOUT'. Plus a very special thank you to the one who organised the weather. Thanks.

Cub Packs taking part were:

3rd Bewdley - Arley Kings - 1st Quarry Bank
St Thomas (Stourbridge) - 24th Birmingham - 2nd Green Worcester
1st Kidderminster - 9th Kidderminster - 10th Kidderminster
